The successful candidate will support cable product manufacturing initiatives at a Shenzhen, China cable manufacturing facility. The focus of the position is process development, optimization, and maintenance in a cable manufacturing environment. The person will work in conjunction with both manufacturing and technical associates. Activities in the scope of the position include:
1. Gaining an understanding of all aspects of cable processing – dielectric materials, extrusion, shielding and cabling.
2. Becoming proficient with the application of a variety of dielectrics.
3. Supporting existing manufacturing and, potentially, transitioning new products into manufacturing.
4. Using the following systems: quality, complaints, design control, corrective and preventive action, risk management, non-conforming product.
5. Designing, executing, and analyzing experiments based on statistical techniques.
6. Developing and carrying out performance tests on a product to characterize and document its safety.
7. Reaching a fundamental understanding of product use, development of visual standards, general manufacturing troubleshooting. Writing procedures, training other associates, and assisting other technical associates.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering capacity. A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or Materials Science. A history of direct involvement with all phases of his/her projects. Demonstrated ability to prioritize, initiate, and drive projects to completion. A solid knowledge of engineering fundamentals, and the ability to apply this knowledge to manufacturing and product design. Solid statistics background. The ability to work effectively in small-team situations, as well as independently. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal – Must be able to speak/write in English. Ability to network and interface effectively in a global organization with associates spanning varied disciplines and responsibilities.
